Readers Choice 4-in-1 Cards
Each issue of Card Times includes a unique 4-in-1 card, initially called "Reader's Choice". Readers are asked to send in their favourite pictures of Britain in the 21st century and we pay £10 for each one we use.
The first series includes pictures as diverse as statues of famous footballers (Dixie Dean, Stanley Matthews, etc) and entertainers (Eric Morecambe, Stan Laurel), as well as wartime tributes (The Dam Busters Memorial, the Battle of Britain Memorial) plus offbeat items (Camberley's "White Elephant", Oxford's "Shark Has Landed" sculpture) and much more. In all, there's 112 images on 28 cards, and this series is now available at only £10 post free.
The second Readers Choice series continued in similar vein with 100 images
- from the Scout Memorial in Nelson, Lancs to the Betjeman statue at St Pancras, from Bobby Moore's statue at the new Wembley stadium to the now dismantled 'B of the Bang' statue outside Manchester's Commonwealth Games stadium. There is also a bonus card celebrating Liverpool's Capital of Culture year depicting eight "Lamb-Banana" clones.
We are currently issuing a set entitled "Nostalgia Unlimited" focusing on a range of transport museums and other bygone collections to be found in the UK. Recent cards have included Brooklands (Britain's first motor racing venue), RNAS Yeovilton (with the Concorde prototype) and several restored steam railway lines.
Also now available is a short eight card (32 images) set called "The Name's the Same" . Did you know that you could visit Scotland and Wales without leaving England, or Dallas and Denver without crossing the Atlantic? We open your eyes to the more unusual place-names to be found in the British Isles.
Remember, we pay £10.00 for every photo we use and you get a credit on the back ! Send your photos (originals please - no postcards!) to Reader's Choice, 70 Winifred Lane, Aughton, Ormskirk, Lancs. L39 5DL or e-mail to choice@cardtimes.co.uk If you want photos returned please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
